Edward, I love the way you twinkle when you sing this song! Thank you for showing me how much like a star you can be!

Robert, musing at the dinner table: "We can't eat sticks, because we're otters." [Pause.] "Wait, I mean we can eat sticks because we're otters. No! I mean we're beavers so we have to eat sticks."

Joseph: "Now you're starting to make a little sense."

R, incensed at such a horrific accusation: "Well, now we have to eat garbage!"

4/27/2016

Robert climbed onto and jumped off of the kitchen table so quickly I didn't have time to object. "Okay then," he said aloud to himself, "I guess I really can't fly, then."

...I'm glad he chose to test this theory by jumping off of the relatively short table...

3/21/2016

Robert, waking up groggily from his nest on the couch: "Mom? I know why we call them backpacks. Because you wear them on your back, and you pack stuff in them."

Me: "Yes, that's right!"

Robert closed his eyes and returned to sleep.

Robert, talking over his lunch: "I'm going to call these slime squares because they're a little sticky, but not much.

Edward, giggling uproariously while reading a book about people-eating toilets: "They don't have arms for sliding down the flagpole! Well--obviously, because toilets don't have arms."

Me: "Edskers, you're reading a book about toilets that talk, move on their own, and eat people. I don't there's any 'obviously' with this book..."

Robert: "Do you know why I love roly-polies, Mom? Because they're too much lovable!"

2/26/2016

Robert made a shocking discovery while we were driving home one evening: "Mom, I felt something in my pants, so I reached in and pulled out my underwear!"

Um... what?

2/16/2016

Robert: "Mom! When is bath time? I smell something stinky in here, and it's me!"

01/31/2016

Edward, a propos of nothing: "Bwa ha ha ha haaaa! Bwa ha ha ha haaaa!"

Me: "Are you okay, Edskers?"

E, matter-of-factly: "Oh, this is nothing. I'm just being silly."

11/06/2015

Me, wondering whether I was good to start cleaning up dinner: Are you done eating, Edskers?

Edward, in a rare display of gustatory delight: No! I just love this dinner! It's a one-way ticket to Flavorville!

10/28/2015

Robert: Mom? You're a female!

Me: Yes, that's true, Robskers.

Robert: And I'm an e-mail!

Me: [laughs uncontrollably]

10/27/2015

Robert, pointing wildly: "Edward, look! Something that you really like is behind you!"

Edward, sarcastically: "I know that trick."
