Addict

Hi, my name is Kirsti.

[Hi, Kirsti!]

...And I'm a compulsive matchy-clothes buyer.

For years, I ignored the signs -- all the classic symptoms. Surely, I told myself, every twenty-year-old young woman dresses matchy with her mom to go out on a mother-daughter movie date night, right?

My extracurricular matching sprees increased when I had children, although I assured myself that my matchy-clothes-wearing and buying tendencies were totally under control. What's so unusual about a matching tie collection among father and sons, after all?

The kilts didn't even completely match, so they totally don't count.

And the matchy brown stripes were honestly just a complete coincidence, anyway.

Besides, I always kept my purchases within my rather measly modest semi-annual clothes budget. It clearly can't be compulsive if you stay under budget. $3 matching red T-shirts from Target aren't compulsive buys; they're just plain common sense. And the sale price on the baseball tees was so low, only a fool would have said "no."

[Denial!]

I thought I was so good: shopping sales, browsing thrift stores, buying off-season... Then last week, while grocery shopping, I saw these plaid checker shirts. They were dead ringers for their father's flannel shirt. Kind of. Actually, they weren't that closely matched at all, but they were so cute. And my already-spent clothes budget (to say nothing of the grocery budget) was (ahem) expanded by necessity. I mean, how could I not? The cuteness was too much to handle!

My name is Kirsti, and I'm a compulsive matchy-clothes buyer.

But it gets worse than that: I have no intention of quitting.

  2. I love the matching clothes!! I can't pick a favorite but the one of Joseph and Edward in the matching coats is definitely one of the best. I hope you have a matching shirt or two!
