Santa's Big Scene

Because I apparently enjoy torturing my boys:

Edward hasn't quite broken down at this point, but he was on the verge.

Both boys did, however, enjoy the free coloring books that Santa gave them:

For the purposes of documentation, behold Edward's first encounter with Santa (2009):
I have a pretty pathetic picture of myself as a wee lass being terrorized by the Jolly Old Elf, too. I'm having technical difficulties posting it, but will keep trying over the next day or so, so if you're terribly interested, you might try checking back in a day or two for an update.

In the meantime... Merry Christmas?

  1. Ah hah ha hahaahaha hahaha... oh my. I love this tradition. And I so hope you are able to upload the picture of yourself on Santa's lap. Edward's "on the verge" face is the epitome of tragedy; did he ever consent to being placed on that lap of terror, or did he just get close enough to get a coloring book and flee?

  2. @Ruth: He never got on the lap. While we were waiting in line, I had had a talk with him about not crying: "Don't cry, Edward: I need you to be brave, so that Robert doesn't get scared. Can you be brave for Robert?" In retrospect, I think that put too much pressure on him, but he really did try -- bless his poor, tortured heart. Anyhoo, I hurriedly took pictures and got the boys out of there before things got too ugly.

  3. Santa 2009 looks a lot jollier than the 2011 version. But the kids look just as if not more adorable.
